Blood Services:
Volunteer at local blood drives throughout the community. Health
& Safety Services Instructors:
Teach community residents the skills to save lives and respond to
emergencies. Volunteer instructors are needed to teach courses in
First Aid/CPR, Water Safety, HIV/AIDS education, and Basic Aid Training
for youth. Training and certification in various Red Cross health
and safety courses is required.
Disaster Services:
Volunteer as a local disaster responder, Disaster Action Team member,
or assist in educating our community on disaster preparedness, prevention,
and response. Locally, trained volunteers can travel to national
disaster relief operations to perform various duties, ranging from
operating shelters to distributing food in devastated areas. During
these operations, hundreds of Red Cross volunteers from around the
country work together to provide immediate assistance. These volunteers
are registered in the national Red Cross Disaster Services Human
Resources System (DSHR) and have received Red Cross training for
specific disaster functions.
Service to Military:
Volunteer to become an after-hours caseworker to serve the military
community and their families.
Office Volunteers:
Work with other volunteers and staff by supporting the day-to-day
activities in the various departments of the Red Cross. From stuffing
envelopes and filing, to photocopying and data entry, volunteers
take on a variety of tasks to help keep the office running.
First Aid Volunteers:
Care for people at local events, such as Frog Follies and YMCA walks/runs,
by working at Red Cross First Aid Stations. Red Cross First Aid
training and certification is required. Admission to events is free
for volunteers.
Internships:
Work in various departments including Fundraising, Special Events, Marketing, and Youth/Education.
