Blood Services
The need for blood is constant, and the American Red Cross of Southwestern Indiana is the primary supplier of blood in the tri-state. In the past year, we collected, processed and delivered 21,606 pints of life-saving blood to area hospitals.
A "Labor of Love"
Every donor has a unique reason that inspires him or her to roll up a sleeve at a Red Cross blood drive, but at our Labor of Love Blood Drive on Sept. 2, 2008, many first-time donors were inspired by the heroism of a local woman and her fight against cancer.
While she was courageously battling pancreatic cancer, Ann Moore, along with her husband, Fox 7 news anchor Randy Moore, wanted to pay tribute to the generosity of the donors whose gift of blood had been crucial to Ann. Marshalling the support of their vast network of friends and associates, Randy and Ann helped the Labor of Love Blood Drive set a record collection of 230 units of life-saving blood. Sadly, Ann passed away July 3, 2009. Her legacy lives on in the hundreds of individuals that she inspired to give the gift of life.
A TRUE HERO
On April 8, 2009, Ann Moore was honored as a 2009 Hero of the American Red Cross. She received the Adult Role Model Award for her inspiration and courage.
CONTINUED SUPPORT
We got the chance to talk with Randy Moore at the "Give Thanks, Give Blood" Blood Drive. In this video, Randy discusses why giving back by giving blood is so important.

December 2008 marked the 25th anniversary of one of the Chapter’s most successful events, the Donorama Blood Drive. Regents Communications sponsored the historic event and SuperHits 105.3 DJ Johnny Kincaid broadcasted live from Chapter headquarters, encouraging listeners to come out and give the gift of life.
On March 30, 2009, rock n’ roll fans lined up to join us for the first Rock n’ Roll Up Your Sleeves Blood Drive. Local radio station WABX and DJ Rusty James helped us exceed our goal of 60 pints. By the end of a single day, we had far exceeded that mark, collecting 84 pints of blood.
